Aviation SMS Return On Investment Study

Safety professionals typically understand the benefits of their safety programs, but may find it difficult to quantify the financial benefits to the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) or the Accountable Executive.

We have found that very few aviation service providers track safety costs; therefore, it becomes even more difficult to justify the expense of SMS programs.

St. Louis University's "Center for Aviation Safety Research" (CASR) published a "Return on Investment Study" that I would like to share with you.

Interesting highlights that I found are:

  • Business benefits of aviation safety programs described;
  • Financial results when a safety program is lacking; and
  • Several case studies demonstrate ROI (return on investment).

We hope you find this ROI study useful. Share it with your colleagues, CFOs, and Accountable Executives. It may help you get the safety budget you deserve.

Stay Safe.
